ASSAR and DECCMA Ghana present at UNU-WIDER Development Conference

On 6 October 2017, Profs. Chris Gordon and Appeaning-Addo respectively delivered presentations on behalf of the ASSAR and DECCMA projects at the UNU-WIDER Development Conference held in Accra, Ghana. The presentations, which were focused on the CARIAA projects' findings on migration and mobility across semi-arid and deltaic regions, were delivered during the "Environment and Natural Resources" parallel session chaired by Linguère Mously Mbaye. A joint research brief 'Migration: An Opportunity or Threat to Adaptation?', specifically developed for the conference and focused on migration and mobility, was also disseminated to participants as part of the presentations.

The UNU-WIDER Conference, held under the theme ‘Migration and mobility – new frontiers for research and policy’ was jointly organised by the UNU-WIDER and the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA). The 2-day (5-6 October) conference consisted of plenary, parallel sessions with contributed papers, and a poster session. The conference explored the relationships between migration, mobility, and development, with a focus on South-South movements and the African region. It aims to bring together new and innovative research from economics and other disciplines that can inform broader policy-relevant debate and action.
