Conducting life history interviews: a how-to guide

The ASSAR migration research team have developed a brilliant new how-to guide to lead researchers, step-by-step, through the process of using the life history approach to conduct interviews. 

The idea for the development of this handbook arose following a series of life history interviews that were conducted by the team in India, Ghana, Kenya and Namibia. The valuable experiences that were had by the ASSAR researchers who undertook these in-depth interviews inspired them to share their practical knowledge, which has been documented in the how-to guide. 

The advice provided is generalised, to ensure that it is accessible and useful to researchers working in many different fields.

The how-to guide will be launched in Cape Town on the 22nd of June at an Adaptation Futures masterclass, titled "How can life course approaches strengthen migration and adaptation research? Methodological reflections from collaborative research across Africa and India", and presented by Chandni Singh and Mark Tebboth.
